How to Manage a Side Hustle in 2020

This year has been crazy and stressful for a lot of people. Many have been laid off due to businesses closing or failing leading them to search for other types of work or deciding they need to get another job to support themselves. A side hustle could also be a way to get yourself out there more and learn about possible careers you could be interested in. There are many reasons people decide to get another job, whether they need the extra money or are seeking out new hobbies. Here is how to manage a side hustle in 2020:

Managing Your Time is Key!

Having a planner or calendar to write down when you need to go do things or do something is a great way to keep yourself organized. Organization is the best way to stay on top of everything you may need to do throughout the day, week, month, or year. Having a planner or calendar can help you prepare for the week before it starts. Along with getting a planner to keep yourself organized, try making your everyday things simpler. For example, instead of driving to the gym, if close enough, jog to it or make a huge meal and refrigerate the rest of it for future meals throughout the week. Also, keeping a to-do list is a great way to make sure you don’t forget about tasks you have to complete in the future.

Choose Wisely.

You are now about to spend a lot of time doing something else in your everyday life. It is important to find a side hustle that you are excited to pursue or that is paying you enough so you can support yourself. Depending on what your skills are, choose something that is going to help get you the most amount of money you can make that corresponds with your skills. If you don’t care about money and just want to learn a new skill or are interested in trying something new, make sure it fits what you want to do, and that you'll be excited to learn. As 2020 has started the revolution for jobs being completely remote, consider looking for a remote job to help you with your time management.

Take Care of Yourself!

Having one job is a lot of work and time in itself, and to have another one on top of that can be overwhelming. Balancing family time, your social life, hobbies, career, and whatever else you may have, can be very difficult. A great way to relieve stress is by staying active.

Staying active, on top of all the work you are doing, will help you relax. In addition, including proper nutrition in your diet can help you maintain energy throughout your day.

It is also good to take time off, if possible. Everyone needs a few days off to get themselves back together before going back to everyday life. When taking time off, take advantage of getting together with friends and family. Having a strong and supportive group of people can help you through difficult times.

Lastly, always make sure you are also getting enough sleep. Sleep is key to performing the next day, and everyone needs to rest their mind, even if it is only for a little while.

Do What You Can Do…

Having a second job can be a lot of work and will take up a lot of your time. As someone who is a full-time college student and working as a barista, managing my time can be difficult. It can be easy to want to sleep instead of going out with friends. Trying to balance everything is hard and takes a lot of effort.

Before you decide to start another job, make sure you know the reasons you are doing it and if you actually believe you can handle the workload. Be confident enough in yourself to admit what you think you can handle. Click here if you want apps to help you stay healthy while managing a side hustle.
